Dragonfly

Dragonfly circles around my head at night.
She rides the cool morning breeze
to show me places I’ve only dreamed possible.
Her back burns a cerulean blue
and her nose leads with a silver diamond.
A hundred copper eyes reflect her one true soul
and sees my gray heart in six-hundred ways.
To catch her is futile; all I can do is lie still
and let her grace my bed until the westerly wind blows.

Violet Sun

A violet sun shines deeply
revealing a heart of grey
that trades alcohol for oxygen
and chemicals for this blue blood.

Sadness marks my every breath,
and my seared lips speak only fear.
Blackened thoughts fill my mind;
these swollen eyes shed hope.

My skin knows no lover’s touch
and no siren songs ring these ears.
A dull moon rises in an empty sky,
signaling now the final hour.

Harvest Love

Across fields of golden grain I see her
walking, or marching, down this aisle of Fate.
Gracefully she moves as a timeless specter
or some ethereal beauty yet unseen.

Her scarlet dress dances under harvest moon
as I sing to her whispers of endless song;
Those amber strands anoint her supple face,
deservingly crowning her august head.

My arms yearn to touch her tender hands
and my legs itch to drag me to her feet.
My heart dreams to simply watch her smile
and to gaze endlessly in those cerise eyes.

Yet, I remain motionless and silent;
my limbs imprisoned by some insidious fate;
my voice stricken by some soulless warden.
The crows overhead mock my imposition.

Looking Glass

On opposite glass I see her walking
silently past my life; a graceful ghost
floating slowly as if searching, wanting,
haunting this dilapidated soul.

Her face is golden and her skin
inviting to palms moist with tears.
Lifeless veils cover her pleading eyes
and guard closely that perilous path.

Suddenly, she turns her face toward me
glancing, her mouth opening so slightly,
as if a lover had whispered her name
or stroked those ebony strands.

I stand frozen, immobilized as her silhouette
burns against my unrelenting desire.
My mind races for one brazen act in life
as she smiles softly at her timely reflection.

Tangent

Take me by the hand again
You pull me deeper in
Inside the dream that I call “You”
You make me want to live again

Look me in the eyes and say
Speak to me from your heart
Tell me how it’s going to end
Make us different from the rest

Hold me close and never release
You take my breath away
Time stands still in endless wonder
At the moment of your touch

Day Two

Oceans pour out a painful cry
Bearing the distance of our love
Knowing that with waters so blue
They keep me from your cerulean eyes

Restless nights bring no comfort
As each hour is spent in memories
Enthralled in such sweetened moments
Wanting desperately for the next

The picture frame beside my bed
Holds this lifeless image of you
That seems to somehow come alive
At the sounding of your voice

With You

Thoughts of you are flashing past my eyes
There’s something here I failed to realize
I’m wondering if this is still the end
But just so you know, I’d do it all again

Your hair falls into place
And my heart starts to race
The smoothness of your skin
Won’t you smile at me again?

And the nights with nothing else to do
I only know I want to be with you
My mind is numb and I can never think
When your love is on the brink

I want to put this pain aside
I want to forget about your lies
I want to hear your voice again
I want to be with you again, again

Your hands run down side
Makes me feel so alive
When you smile up at me
There’s no where I’d rather be

Life Insurance

I awake to a day gone bad
The bitter morning calls to arms
But I set out completely defenseless
Vulnerable to the toils of Fate

The dawn bleeds into the sky
As my life pulls out in front of me
The burned rubber and broken glass
Sound the end of my seeing of you

Your face it sank in my eyes
It was everything I needed to see
I was ready to die at that moment
Knowing I still had your love

Life begins to reveal its irony
But I’m praising that life isn’t fair
I know if I got what was coming
I never could have touched your lips again

The Drive

I’m weaving between metal death
My fingers flow with turns of you
And every car passed brings me closer
Closer to your touch of love

The radio plays all our songs
So every word I take to heart
Everything you have ever said
Is treasured within these doors

The air becomes my only hope
Filled with all the breaths of you
Rushing through my distant eyes
And crashing upon my heart

The mileage is my written proof
With every mile I love you more
I’d drive forever to see you smile
To hold you close to my heart

Everything Poetry

As we lay here holding on so closely
I gaze up at those heavenly fires
Brilliantly burning their lives away
Clinging only to their darkness

The moon’s radiance soothes me
Warming my mind to distant thoughts
Gleaming upon the softly breaking waves
That wash the broken death ashore

The streetlights yield a steady flicker
Complimented by the sound of passing cars
The rhythmic ambiance flows with my heart
A heart that is beating only for you

Seaborne air breathes the scent of life
And we’re quick to run to warmer refuge
The clouds set themselves upon your lips
Lacing the ground with its subtle shine

I shut my eyes and soak you in completely
And I pray I’ll never wake from this dream
With you it seems everything is poetry
From my heart with a perfect love
