Summer Storm

When fading worlds seem to collide
And everything starts to break inside
Heavy thunder rings its toll
That lightning has struck this soul

The violent rose lashes forth
A symbol that was something of worth
Shattered by such turbulent wind
Never will it love again

Rain proceeds to drown its prey
And promises will soon decay
And soon the light will twinkle through
And dry up all my thoughts of you

Midnight’s Reign

Midnight air thickens and I struggle to breathe
Falling tears wash away the memories
And the sounding beat spells out pain
While every moment reminds me of you

My face hits my hands and I bury the thought
And I wish for a fire long since gone now
The cold is welcomed but now I’m freezing
And I yearn for a dry place to rest

Slowly the storms rise with eventual death
And the darkness eclipses your sun
So I gasp with fear and sigh a resolve
And I cry until the rain goes away

Ocala Night

In the quiet stillness of night
As the rain softly taps on my heart
A breeze gently rustles through my mind
Which carries the whisper of your name

Months of time pass in seconds
As I lust for the thought of you
I fear to be left alone with my thoughts
Alone without the sound of your name

Words spill onto paper like blood
And they flow through the veins of pages
That somehow these feeble words might suffice
And fill your heart with the love I breathe

Someday

These screams I hear inside my head
Sometimes make me see blood red
I’ve had enough, it’s too much pain
I think I might have gone insane

I only want to run away
To be with you all night and day
But I am trapped within this life
The bitter struggle, my painful strife

Yet when the rains and storms have cleared
I’ll be that man I’ve always feared
So now I watch for far away
I’ll be with you, some day

Sunday Rain

Sunday rain hits the ground
Replaying a too familiar sound
I lock myself inside my room
And listen to the quiet tune

You’ve been gone for far too long
And it’s too late to say you’re wrong
This isn’t how it’s supposed to be
If only I could make you see

Love songs pour out the car
Breakup songs are not too far
I’m hearing different than before
What the hell am I waiting for?

I read the letters you had sent
I dreamed of you without consent
I remembered how it used to be
Both together happily

I write you poems you’ll never read
And make myself this final creed
I love you enough to let you go
But if you leave I’ll never know
